Busan’s Most Instagrammable Ride: How to Master Haeundae Blueline Park Busan

The Sky Capsule at haeundae blueline park Busan, with its colorful cabins set against the blue sky and vast ocean, has become the iconic face of many Busan tourism advertisements!

Riding the Sky Capsule is highly recommended at least once when visiting Busan because it is incredibly healing and cute. However, because this attraction is so popular, many people wonder how to book tickets and which route is the best. This article will answer all your questions at once.

Transportation to Sky Capsule

Busan Sky Capsule

If you are departing from Mipo Station, you can search for “Haeundae Blue Line Park Mipo Station” (Naver Map). The boarding area for the Sky Capsule is on the second floor, while the Beach Train departs from the first floor. There are clear signs on the ground, so you can easily follow them once you arrive!

If you have booked a Sky Capsule departing from Cheongsapo Station, search for “Haeundae Blue Line Park Cheongsapo” (Naver Map). Similarly, the Beach Train is on the first floor and the Sky Capsule is on the second floor.

Sky Capsule Ticket Prices

According to the official Haeundae Blue Line Park website, the ticket prices vary based on the number of passengers:

Sky Capsule (One-way)Sky Capsule (One-way) + Beach Train (One-way)
2 People₩ 40,000 (approx. $29 USD)₩ 65,000 (approx. $47 USD)
3 People₩ 45,000 (approx. $32.50 USD)₩ 78,000 (approx. $56.50 USD)
4 People₩ 50,000 (approx. $36 USD)₩ 94,000 (approx. $68 USD)

Please note that the prices listed above are the total for the entire cabin. For example, if 2 people are only taking the Sky Capsule, the total cost is ₩ 40,000 KRW. Since each cabin can hold up to 4 people, the price is capped at the 4-person rate. If you have a Visit Busan Pass, the Beach Train is already included for free, so we recommend just purchasing a one-way Sky Capsule ticket.

How to Book Tickets

There are three main ways to book your experience at haeundae blueline park Busan: on-site, through the official website, or via third-party platforms (like KKday or Klook). Below are the pros and cons of each.

On-site PurchaseOfficial WebsiteThird-party Platforms
MethodBuy directly at the counterBook on the official websiteBook via KKday or Klook
Pros– Flexible schedule– Real-time availability
– Guaranteed tickets
– Platform discounts/promotions
– Guaranteed tickets
– User-friendly English interface
Cons– High risk of being sold out– Partial refund only for bad weather
– Foreign cards may face payment issues
– Usually non-refundable

I personally booked through KKday. A quick reminder: if there are two people, you only need to buy one ticket for a 2-seater Sky Capsule. Don’t make the mistake of buying two separate tickets!

After purchasing on KKday, you will receive a voucher with a link to your QR code (as shown below). You need to click that link to access the QR code and then use it at the self-service machines on-site to exchange it for physical tickets.

Sky Capsule Routes

Sky Capsule Route

The Sky Capsule route at haeundae blueline park Busan is divided into two directions:

  • Mipo (미포) to Cheongsapo (청사포)
  • Cheongsapo (청사포) to Mipo (미포)

It is the same track, just different directions. However, it is highly recommended to choose the Mipo to Cheongsapo route. This is because the cabins on this side are closer to the ocean, allowing for unobstructed views and better photos. After arriving at Cheongsapo, you can take the Beach Train back to Mipo.

Riding Experience & Tips

The one-way Sky Capsule trip takes about 30 minutes, and I think it’s definitely worth it! However, it is very weather-dependent. If the weather is poor, the view of the sea might be shrouded in white mist, which doesn’t look as impressive in photos.

I originally reserved the 13:30 slot from Mipo. However, I arrived an hour early, and the staff allowed me to board early because there were vacant slots (this is only possible if it’s not fully booked). I was lucky to have great weather. While I was initially nervous about missing the best angles, 30 minutes is actually plenty of time to take photos and still enjoy the scenery. Note that the last 5-10 minutes of the ride transition into a wooded area, so make sure to capture your ocean shots early!

After arriving at Cheongsapo, you can walk to the Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory. The transparent floor allows you to look directly down at the waves, and it’s only a 10-minute walk from the station.

If you plan to use the Visit Busan Pass for the Beach Train return trip, you must first exchange your pass for a physical ticket at the counter. These exchanges can only be done at Mipo, Cheongsapo, or Songjeong stations. Even though there is a “Daritdol Observatory” stop for the Beach Train, you cannot board there if you haven’t exchanged your ticket yet!
